The Uwharrie Hikers, a
hiking club for residents of
Stanly, Montgomery, and
Randolph counties (and
neighboring areas) has been
formed and invites members
of all ages who enjoy the
outdoors to join us for
regular hikes and outings.
There is no fee to join the
club, but members must
complete an Albemarle Parks
and Recreation release and
information form before
participating in any club

Brain Gym
Brain Gym is a program of 26
easy movements that
integrate the brain and the
body. It is like a set of
tools that can be carried
with a person into any
situation. It is an
anywhere, anytime technique
that can calm the bodys
stress responses creating
connections between the
hemispheres of the brain
across the corpus collosum.
Brain Gym is used with high
performance Olympic
athletes, senior citizens
desiring to improve
cognitive skills, recovering
stroke patients, sales
teams, students from every
ability level and much
more. This class will be
taught by Lainie Shimpock
Cribb who has a BS in Speech
& Language Pathology and
Hearing Sciences and is also
a certified school teacher
and certified in learning
disabilities. The cost for
the class is $25 per
person. Classes will be
Wednesdays, beginning Mar.
17 from 9:30am-10:30am.
Registration begins March
1. Payment is expected at
the time of registration.

LOANER RODS AND REELS AVAILABLE (Ongoing Program)
Whether you want to tangle with the legendary monster catfish in Badin Lake or fill up a stringer on Rocky River, first-time and novice anglers in Stanly County are encouraged to borrow rods and reels free of charge to get in on Stanly County's hot fishing action this spring and summer. The loaner rods and reels are located at Rock Creek Park and provided by the Albemarle Parks & Recreation and the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (WRC), through the WRC's Fishing Tackle Loaner Program.
