The 2012 Mini-Medley Relay
will take
place on Saturday, March 24,
2012.
This ten mile team relay
race will feature
elementary (grades 4-5),
middle
school (grades 6-8), high
school
(grades 9-12), family,
corporate, masters
(40 and over), and open
divisions
and will begin at 9 am. A
one mile
Fun Run will begin at 8:30
am. Registration
is conducted by teams, with
entry
fees ranging from $70 for
school
age teams to $95 for family,
corporate,
masters, and open teams. Fun
Run is
$10. Registration deadline
is Monday,

Vac & Dash Moonlight Half-Marathon and Movie

The First Ever Vac & Dash
Moonlight Half-Marathon and
Movie. Run from the Badin
Drive-In to the top of Morrow
Mountain and back. Runners
will be required to wear
lights. We will also provide
glow braclets to wear. There
are two screens at the Drive-
In. Movies will start at
sunset. The plan is to show
running movies on one screen
and regular movies on the
other. The race will start at
10:30 pm. Family and friends
will be able to relax in a
nostalgic atmosphere and
enjoy the show while you are
racing. Reason to run the
race: It involves running, a
drive-in and Friday the 13th!

City Lake Canoeing Tour Deadline

LOANER RODS AND REELS AVAILABLE (Ongoing Program)
Whether you want to tangle with the legendary monster catfish in Badin Lake or fill up a stringer on Rocky River, first-time and novice anglers in Stanly County are encouraged to borrow rods and reels free of charge to get in on Stanly County's hot fishing action this spring and summer. The loaner rods and reels are located at Rock Creek Park and provided by the Albemarle Parks & Recreation and the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (WRC), through the WRC's Fishing Tackle Loaner Program. CITY LAKE PARK DISC GOLF
A new nine-hole disc golf
course is now open for play
at City Lake Park. This
course, which begins along
the lakeside trail and ends
near the park amphitheatre,
features a design that is
suited to the beginning disc
golfer, as well as to youth
and senior play. Albemarle
Parks and Recreation
provides disc rental to the
public at its Rock Creek
Park office, as well as an
18-hole championship-level
course at Morehead Park. For

The Uwharrie Hikers, a new
hiking club for residents of
Stanly, Montgomery, and
Randolph counties (and
neighboring areas) has been
formed and invites members
of all ages who enjoy the
outdoors to join us for
regular hikes and
outings. There is no fee
to join the club, but
members must complete an
Albemarle Parks and
Recreation release and
information form before
participating in any club
