ADGA Tournament (Albemarle Disc Golf Association)

May 17 - Start Time: 1:00 PM The Albemarle Disc Golf Association will hold bi- monthly local tournaments on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays beginning at 1:00 PM. These will be random singles and Doubles Tourney's. The cost is $8.00 for members, and $10.00 for non ADGA members. Payout is 50%. Mulligans can be purchased for $1.00 per hole, if desired.

SCSC - ADULT 5 V 5 SOCCER

Stanly County Soccer Club is now accepting 5v5 registrations. All registrations must be mailed in by May 25th. Registrations will close when 8 teams are formed - so don't wait till it's late. Games will be scheduled for month of June/July. Participants must be 16yrs and older. Two divisions (men 16 - 24yrs), (coed women 16 and above + men 25 and above). **NOTE:
This 5v5 will be played at the new Soccer complex in Locust. Some of the games will be played late evening under the lights. At the end of the season there will be a tournament. Registrants sign up separate and teams will be formed from all registrants - 5v5 is meant to promote the love of the game and to be fun for the whole family. Kids come cheer your parents on and tell them to "kick the ball!"

KARATE CLASS

Running 101 Program by the Uwharrie Running Club
Back by popular demand, Running 101 that is designed to help new runners train for a 5K race. At Monday's first class, 18 new runners participated. You can still join. This Monday, the class will meet at 6:00 PM at the bleachers behind the tennis court at Rock Creek Park.

The hour program consists of a thirty minute seminar, with a different topic each week, followed by thirty minutes of running/walking.

The $35.00 cost includes a t- shirt and entry into the Beach Blast 5K. For details call 704-983-3274.


"Cart for a Cure"

Cart for a Cure Badin will host the first annual golf cart parade entitled "Cart for a Cure". The money raised will be donated for researching Cystic Fibrosis in memory of Caryn Lawson, former Badin Town Manager. This event is free to the public. NEW HIKING CLUB!!

The Uwharrie Hikers, a new hiking club for residents of Stanly, Montgomery, and Randolph counties (and neighboring areas) has been formed and invites members of all ages who enjoy the outdoors to join us for regular hikes and outings. There is no fee to join the club, but members must complete an Albemarle Parks and Recreation release and information form before participating in any club event. SILVER FOX EXERCISE CLASS

SILVER FOX EXERCISE CLASS This club for ages 50 and older meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 to 11 am for walking, games, and other activities. Call 704-984- 9569 for information.


LOANER RODS AND REELS AVAILABLE (Ongoing Program)
Whether you want to tangle with the legendary monster catfish in Badin Lake or fill up a stringer on Rocky River, first-time and novice anglers in Stanly County are encouraged to borrow rods and reels free of charge to get in on Stanly County's hot fishing action this spring and summer. The loaner rods and reels are located at Rock Creek Park and provided by the Albemarle Parks & Recreation and the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (WRC), through the WRC's Fishing Tackle Loaner Program. For fishing information and a complete list of the NCWRC's Community Fishing and Tackle Loaner Programs sites contact Albemarle Parks and Recreation Department at (704) 984-9561 or contact the N.C.
