Pfeiffer Community Prepares for First Relay for Life
Pfeiffer University's Merner Gymnasium parking lot was filled all winter long with fans arriving to support the institution's Men's Basketball Team, which received national recognition. Basketball season is over, but on April 16-17, organizers hope that the same parking lot will be equally brimming with people participating in and supporting Pfeiffer's first Relay for Life event.

Hugs Across America
Please help us provide Teddy Bears for children in crisis through Hugs Across America, a national not for profit organization. After the horrible disaster on September 11, over 58,000 teddies were given to the children of New York City. Easing the traumatic effects of that horrible event prompted Hugs Across America to seek teddies for other youngsters confronted by fear or loss. Hugs has since distributed over 50,000 teddies to children of our troops in Iraq, children returning to tents over ashen homes after the California forest fires, and children suffering the devastating effects of domestic violence, house fires or police and medical emergencies.
We now have a local chapter in Oakboro, N. C. which needs your help. The bears are $3.95 each, and come in 4 colors. Each has the Hugs Across America Logo, and a special message for the child receiving the bears. We currently have a request from the 145th Airlift Wing in Charlotte, N. C. If you or your church or organization would be willing to help with a fundraiser or just want to donate for the bears, please send e-mails to oakborowireless@ctc.net or mail contributions to Norma Thomas, Hugs Across America, 1152 North Main Street, Oakboro, North Carolina, 28129.
