Christmas Benefit Concert
While on break from recent tour, Nashville recording artist and Stanly County native, John Love will be hosting a benefit concert for the foster children of the Stanly County. The concert will be held at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center on December 19, 2003 from 8-10pm. Doors will open at 6pm for everyone to enjoy a craft show and refreshments.

Angel tree drop off extended til noon on Monday Dec 9th.

The Stanly County Partnership for Children and Helping Hands are teaming up to help local needy children during the upcoming holiday season. Information about the children can be found on the Angel Tree located in the partnership offices in Stanly Commons in Albemarle. All gifts should be delivered to the partnership office by 12 p.m. December 9, 2003. Applications for assistance can be picked up at Stanly Community Christian Ministry, local department of social services and the partnership office. For more information, call (704) 982-2038.

Valentine Gift Sale
The Arc of Stanly County, Inc. is once again conducting its annual Valentine Gift Sale (Project Cupid). Last year over 700 recipients - secretaries, bosses, teachers, mail carriers, wives, husbands, ‘secret pals’, shut- ins, etc. – were remembered in a special way. This annual fundraiser began eight years ago and has been successful since that time. There are several ways that folks in Stanly County can be a part of Project Cupid 2004:

1. A contribution can be made to provide a gift for someone in the community.
2. Provide the name of someone in the community who needs their life touched, but is unlikely to be remembered.
3. Purchase a Valentine gift for someone special. Each decorative Valentine Gift box, which sells for $10.00, contains Welch’s juice, muffin, Chocolate Turtles, gift and card.
