Fellowship of the Idiot Run - Two dates to choose from.
By popular demand, you will have two chances to become officially known as an Idiot. The first run will be on Saturday Nov. 20th at 5:00 AM. The second run will be on Sunday Dec. 5th at 5:30 AM. It is a 19.7 mile down and back course that runs from the YMCA in downtown Albemarle to the top of Morrow Mountain and back.

Gift Basket Raffles Ongoing Throughout the Year
A new twist to a popular Central Elementary favorite, customized gift baskets are being created now to present as fundraisers throughout the year at various school and community functions. Operation Christmas Child
Central United Methodist Church in Albemarle is participating in Operation Christmas Child again this year. The church is also a Relay Center for Stanly and the surrounding counties. The collection for this event will be Nov.15 until Nov.21.During the week the collection center will be open from 1-6 p.m. Saturday 9-a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9a.m. until 2 a.m.

Thanksgiving Morning Turkey Trot
Thanksgiving Morning Turkey Trot Minimal car traffic and crisp fall air on Thanksgiving morning makes it the best day of the year to run. Start your day in the calorie deficit column by joining us for a 4.2 mile easy run. No entry fee, no t-shirts or medals will be handed out in this non sanctioned event. This will be a fun social run for whoever wants to show up.

Angel Tree
Norwood Police Department is sponsoring an Angel Tree for 25 needy Stanly County children. Names may be obtained at the police department, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM-Noon and 1:00-5:00 PM. You may also request names by phone, 704- 474-3716, or by e-mail, norwoodpd@alltel.net. Gifts need to be returned to the police department by Friday, December 3, 2004.
