The 208th Army Band at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center

The 208th Army Band at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center Saturday, March 24, 2011 7:30 PM. The 208th Army Band history began in 1956 when the band was activated as the 100th Division Band. In 2008 the band was assigned as a separate unit under the 81st Regiment Support Command and relocated to Concord, N.C. CW3 Timothy J. Lyden, Commander/Bandmaster, earned a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Youngstown State University, and he currently has 26 years of military service. The band performs concerts and military marches for active duty troops and the civilian population. Selected musicians are members of combo and jazz ensembles within the band. The mission of the 208th Army Band is to build morale and community relations throughout North and South Carolina and to serve active duty troops wherever deployed. Stanly County Partnership for Children presents a production of the The Commedia Cinderella by the Tarradiddle Players on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 3:00 PM at the Central Elementary School Auditorium located at 250 N. 3rd St., Albemarle. Tickets are $5.00 per person and may be purchased at the Partnership office, First Bank locations or at the door the day of the show. In this funny, fast-paced show, the Tarradiddle Players put a slapstick spin on one of the worlds most famous fairytales. Beautiful Cinderella is forced to work as a kitchen maid by her mean Stepmother and two ugly Stepsisters, but thanks to a little help from her Fairy Godmother, she still has a chance to win the hand of the handsome Prince. With roots in the humorous, physical acting style of Italian Commedia dellarte, this production is a lighthearted treat.

Wagfest

City Lake Canoeing Tour

Come out and enjoy the scenery and weather with Albemarle Parks & Recreation as they tour the beautiful venue of City Lake Park from the water. This canoe expedition will meet at City Lake Park on May 5th at 2:00 pm. Groups will paddle to the City Lake dam and/or up into Long Creek. Boats will be available. The concert series and Cruise In is a great time to get outside and enjoy wonderful music and unique cars in a beautiful setting. Where: Locust Presbyterian Church Stanly Parents of Twins and Triplets are...

* Parents that help promote interest in and knowledge through the exchange of ideas about delivering and caring for their children

* Parents who listen to your concerns, share your experiences and offer hints and suggestions

* Parents who become friends by sharing the joys and trials of parenting multiples.

Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm. We meet at the Locust Presbyterian Church. The church is located on Hwy. 24/27 in Locust. All mothers of multiple births are invited to attend. We have members from Stanly, Montgomery, Cabarrus, Union and Rowan counties. Meeting topics vary from speaker to support group sessions. When you join SPOTT, you will have a built in support network. We also have a lending library available for members. You will receive our monthly newsletter "THE SPOTT- SPOTLIGHT". When you join, your dues include membership in our State and National Organization. Our National Mothers of Twins Club sends out bi-monthly publication, "Notebook". Some of SPOTT events held throughout the year include:

History of SPOTT

Stanly Parents of Twins was founded January 16, 1996. The club has been a member of the National Organization of Twins Clubs, Inc. (NOMOTC) since September 1996. The club has been a member of North Carolina Mothers of Multiples (NCMOM) since January 1997. In 2002 we added Triplets to our name.
The National Organization of Mothers of Multiples was founded in 1960 and includes over 475 clubs from across the country. NOMOTC has a wonderful website full of great information (www.nomotc.org). The annual convention is held the last week in July, in different locations each year. North Carolina Mothers of Multiples was founded in 1985 and includes 13 member clubs. They also have a website full of local information (ncmom.org). The annual convention is held the first weekend in November in various cities in NC. For more information email: spottnc@gmail.com

MEN MAKING A DIFFERENCE
This mens service group meets every 1st and 3rd Monday at 6 pm at the E.E. Waddell Center. The group is dedicated to making a positive difference in the South Albemarle Community.
